“What was she jogging?” Ex-Indian captain angry at Harmanpreet, gave ‘this’ lesson

In the first semi-final match of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023, the Indian team lost to Australia in a close match. Australia women’s team beat India women’s team by 5 runs. After this defeat, some supported the women’s team, while many criticized it. Former Indian captain Diana Edulji directly criticized Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur.

In the first semi-final match, Australia challenged India by 173 runs. India had to struggle to overcome this challenge. At one point it seemed that the team would win, but the run out of Harmanpreet Kaur dashed the hopes. Edulji reacted to the way Harmanpreet was run out. she said,

“She must have thought her bat stuck at the last minute. However, I think she was jogging. Even knowing how important your wicket is, how can you run like that. You have to play cricket professionally to win. You could call it professionalism the way Ellyse Perry made a diving save in the last over to prevent two runs.”

Harman was trying to get a double when the Indian team needed 40 runs to win. After the first run, it slowed down a bit. As she was about to complete the second run, her bat got stuck on the ground. So she was run out. She hit 6 fours and 1 six in her innings of 52 runs off 34 balls. After that, as the other batsmen could not maintain the pace of runs, the Indian team lost by five runs.
