Why did Coach Dravid say that to Virat in the interview, ‘You made me wait for rhythm…’? Watch the video

Indian team’s explosive batsman Virat Kohli dominated the Ahmedabad Test. He scored a storming century. Interestingly, his century came after 3 years 3 months and 20 days. That is, after 1205 days, Virat scored a Test century. He scored 186 runs off 364 balls in this match. He also hit 15 boundaries while making these runs. The match ended in a draw, but India won the series 2-1. After the match, the head coach Rahul Dravid interviewed Virat. An interesting discussion took place between them.

Rahul Dravid poked fun at Virat Kohli at the beginning of the interview. He said, “Virat has many Test centuries as a player and as a centurion. However, as a coach, I had been waiting for this moment for the last 15-16 months. Finally the time has come. We saw another Test century from Virat.” Dravid then asked about Virat’s feelings about not scoring a century in Test cricket for a long time.

Dravid’s tough question to Virat
Dravid said, “I know you are a person who takes a lot of pride in your achievements. You have a habit of scoring centuries regularly. Many Test matches were not played due to Corona, but was it a difficult time not to score a Test century for such a long time? We were a bit curious about the numbers. In the mean time I like some of your games. The 70 in Cape Town was a good innings, but were you thinking about the century?”

Virat’s answer
Virat Kohli replied that he was not happy with the innings of 40 and 50 runs. Virat said, “Honestly speaking, I let my shortcomings get a bit complicated. The disappointment of not scoring a century is something that can grow on you as a batsman. I let that happen to me to some extent, but the other side of it is that I am not a person who is happy with 40-45 runs. I am very proud to perform for the team.”

Virat further said, “When I bat for 40 runs, I realize that I can score 150 runs. One thing I was eating inside was, why am I not able to score such a big score for the team? Because, I was proud that when the team needed me, I stood up. Even in difficult situations, we used to build up the score. I was not succeeding in doing that and that was what worried me.”

Man of the match award to Virat
Virat Kohli was also honored with the Man of the Match award for his knock of 186 runs in the fourth Test. This was his 10th man of the match award in his Test career. (head coach rahul dravid interviewed virat kohli after winning test series against australia)
