Why team India is not winning ICC trophy for last 10 years? Harbhajan Singh said clearly
The Indian team won the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013 under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. However, after that the year 2023 came, but still India has not been able to win the ICC trophy. Meanwhile, former Indian team spinner Harbhajan Singh said that the current team has not shown that courage, which is required to win the ICC trophy. Also, he said that the decision to go with four fast bowlers in the WTC final was not right. The Indian team, which has not won a single ICC trophy in the last ten years, is in a poor position against Australia. Harbhajan, who plays the role of a commentator, has given advice to the Indian players.
What did Harbhajan Singh say?
Harbhajan Singh said, “There is no lack of skill. The bigger the matches, the better. I think there is a need to play freely in such a match. We are playing very defensively. We have to play without worrying about the result.” Speaking further, he said, “Give the responsibility to the players and they will definitely do their job. If they are put under pressure, if they don’t play well, some will be out and some will not (lose their confidence).”
“They need to give confidence that even if you don’t play well, you try your best. That’s how you win the cup. Play boldly,” he added. World number one spinner R Ashwin had to stay out. Because, the Indian team has gone with four fast bowlers and one spinner.
“The match is a five-day match, and the bowlers have to choose based on the condition of the five days. Ashwin is a brilliant bowler and four fast bowlers were not needed. The fourth and fifth days are just as important as the first day. What matters is how you play on those days,” Harbhajan added.
“Maybe the team management didn’t think too much about it and played four fast bowlers. If a bowler like Mohammad Siraj or Mohammad Shami sits out, only then is it understood to drop four fast bowlers. It would have been better to play Ashwin and two spinners instead of four pacers.”
Indian team’s first innings
Australia scored 469 runs in the first innings. After this, India struggled to score runs in the first innings. India scored only 296 runs for the loss of all wickets on the strength of half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane (89) and Shardul Thakur (51). Thus India was trailing by 173 runs.
