WI vs NED tie in World Cup Qualifiers, Netherlands beat Windies in Super Over
The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Qualifier round saw an exciting match on Monday (June 26). The 18th match of the qualifiers was played between West Indies and Netherlands. In this match, the Netherlands made a big turnaround and defeated the West Indies team. The West Indies could not defend 373 runs and the match ended in a draw. After that, a super over was played in both teams. Meanwhile, Dutch batsman Logan van Beek washed Jason Holder well. This time he scored 30 runs with the help of 3 fours and 3 sixes. Chasing this challenge, the mighty West Indies managed to score only 8 runs.
The thrill of the last over
In fact, Netherlands needed 9 runs from the last over to win. This over was bowled by Alzari Joseph from the West Indies team. Logan Van Beek hits a boundary on Joseph’s first ball. With this four, Netherlands’ hopes were high. 5 runs were needed off the last 5 balls. However, Joseph spent only 4 runs in the next five balls, taking two wickets. So the match ended in a draw.
Logan van Beek’s bang in the Super Over
Jason Holder was bowling for the West Indies team in the Super Over. Once again Logan was on strike from the Netherlands. He laughed this time. Logan hit a boundary on the first ball bowled by Holder. He then hit a six off the second ball, a four off the third ball and another six off the fourth ball. Thus 20 runs were scored in 4 balls. Logan then hit a six on the fifth ball of the over and sent the last ball for a boundary to end the super over.
