Iyer entered the field after opening batsman N Jagdeesan was dismissed in the second over. Iyer, who has been in good form this season, attacked the Mumbai bowlers from the start. Meanwhile he completed his third half-century of the season. Even after this innings, his runs did not stop. He completed his first IPL century in the 17th over with the help of 6 fours and 9 sixes off 49 balls. He became only the second batsman after Brendon McCullum to score a century for KKR in IPL. McCullum scored 158 not out in the first match in IPL history. After the century, he did not last long and was dismissed for 104 runs.
