The domestic season of Indian cricket will start from June 28. The season will begin with the Duleep Trophy tournament. There are many players in this tournament. However, Indian wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha has refused to play in the tournament. After reading the reason behind this, everyone will be in awe of it. So, let’s find out the reason behind Saha leaving the Duleep Trophy…
According to media reports, East Zone wicketkeeper batsman Ishan Kishan has decided not to play in the Duleep Trophy. Because, he is going to tour West Indies. He will be part of the Test team. In this way, he is out of this competition. So the selectors sent a proposal to Wriddhiman Saha. However, he categorically refused to play in this tournament. Along with this, he also explained the reason.
According to reports, Saha said, “The Duleep Trophy is the hope for the next generation of Indian players. If I am never going to play for India, there is no point in stopping any young player from staking his claim.” The selectors therefore chose Abhishek Porel as their third choice wicket-keeper batsman to play in the Duleep Trophy tournament.
Saha has played 40 Tests and 9 ODIs for the Indian team. In this he has scored 1353 runs in Tests at an average of 29.41. This included 3 centuries and 6 fifties. Additionally, he has scored only 41 runs in ODIs. Additionally, he was in superb form in the recently concluded IPL 2023 season as well. He scored 371 runs with 2 fifties at an average of 23.19 in 17 matches for Gujarat Titans.
