WTC Final. India’s disappointment in 9 consecutive ICC trophies! The dream of WTC mace is incomplete even this time

The World Test Championship 2021-23 remains in the name of the Australian team. Australia defeated India by 209 runs in the WTC final and won the WTC for the first time. With this victory, Australia became only the first team to win all the ICC trophies. On the other hand, the ICC trophy drought is not over for India yet. This is the eighth ICC tournament in the last 10 years in which an Indian team has narrowly missed out on the title.

In the World Test Championship 2021-23, India and Australia team confirmed their place in the final match on the strength of their performance. The final started on Wednesday (June 7) at The Oval Stadium in England. India won the toss and invited Australia to bat first in this match. In the first innings, Australia scored 469 runs in 121.3 overs. In reply, the Indian team could manage only 296 runs in the first innings. Then in the second innings, Australia scored 270 for 8 and gave India a chance to bat. India were set a target of 444 runs for victory, which the team failed to achieve. The Indian team was bowled out for 234 runs in the last innings.

Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, India won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013, India’s last ICC trophy. Since then, India has not been able to win a single ICC trophy for the last 10 years. During this time the team played a total of 9 ICC tournaments. But did not win any title.
